Future of Work
Non-Profit: Health Care, Growth Strategy
A California-based healthcare organization faced the dual challenge of safely reopening offices after the initial waves of the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining service continuity and positioning for sustainable growth. Their strong growth meant the company now had more employees than they had space for, demands for service required additional hiring in a tight labor market, and, despite rapid adoption of collaboration technology at the onset of the pandemic, workflows that were still largely manual.
Strategic Impact and Transformation: My team’s analysis revealed that remote work had actually enhanced productivity, collaboration, and employee satisfaction in many cases. This data-driven approach shifted the organization's perspective on recruiting, service delivery, and operations, leading them to reevaluate their vision and seek long-term competitive advantages in talent acquisition and retention. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, the organization adopted a team-by-team analysis to determine which work functions required physical presence versus remote capability.
Future of Work Model Integration: The integration of digital and physical workforce elements examined opportunities to support enhanced employee experiences and operational efficiency through targeted IT updates and automation, while the physical workplace was reimagined to serve essential functions truly requiring in-person collaboration while avoiding additional square footage.
Sustainable Operational Framework: The future of work strategy addressed critical infrastructure changes across real estate, IT, and service delivery to create a scalable model for the organization's growing customer base, positioning the client to adapt to continued uncertainty while improving both employee experience and competitive positioning in the healthcare market.
