Organization Design

Public Sector: Organization Design, Operating Model

Strategic Organizational Design I led the team working with senior leadership of a large public transit authority to redesign the organizational structure to support a 5-year, multibillion-dollar growth strategy. My team collaborated with executives to define clear objectives, success metrics, and design criteria to guide the effort. This leadership partnership was critical for aligning with newly-identified strategic priorities while using existing organizational strengths to accommodate rapid ridership growth and ensure future scalability.

Collaborative Team Design and Operating Model Development: The organizational design process involved co-creation with client leadership, allowing leaders to provide candid insights about their teams behaviors and operational dynamics. My team shared multiple design options, gathering feedback on everything from culture, staffing, capacity, and process, before settling on a final structure. This collaborative approach ensured that the new team structures, role assignments, and the operating model to make it work were tested project leadership before implementation, creating buy-in from the start,

Pivotal Structural Transformation Results: The new organizational structure that emerged from this design process fundamentally transformed how the transit authority operates by reducing organizational silos and fostering enhanced collaboration across departments. Most importantly, the redesigned teams and new operating model directly support the organization's strategic priorities while ensuring sustainability and scalability for continued growth.
